Protests in Argentina

While almost all of the media are taking great joy in showing pictures of fires and tear gas, it's refreshing to see a peaceful (and beautiful) image like this.

when are people going to stop using Che as a symbol for every cause and protest? there's got to be more to it than one man.

i have read a bit his diaries, but i just wish I could stop seeing that image over and over again. it rings false to me. of course, Che doesn't have the same meaning or importance for me as it might for someone else.

i do like all the flags joined together.

Yep, Che might be overused in some aspects, but in this situation is perfectly OK to use him as he was after all Argentinian! Besides, if you read more about the situation u will notice that Hugo Chavez uses very similar ideals as Che did, so his use is completelly relevant! You have to be from Latin Americanto really grasp Che and understand. The flags together are great indeed!

Um, this conversation is FAR too intelligent for MY blog ;) Just kidding.

I agree that Che is overused, ESPECIALLY in Japan, where they have no idea what the fuck he did. However, I agree with Eduardo that Che is relevant here, and has much more right being used in this case than in the general "We're revolutionaries! Che was a revolutionary! Let's use his face!"-type of overuse that is common with the image.

yeah...totally blanked out that Che was Argentinian. laaame.

next time, i'll refrain from saying anything remotely intelligent. just leave to the experts, like Hannity and O'Reilly.
